Cloud computing is one of the most prominent technologies that introduces flexibility in distributing the network data resources. This technology enables the user to pay as per their use. In cloud computing, virtualization remains as an essential technology. Reducing the load imbalance level across virtual machines in virtualized environment gains significant interest among researchers. In order to deal with the load balancing challenges, virtual machine migration remains as one of the popular techniques in existence. In this paper, we have devised a load balancing mechanism based on virtual machine migration which not only minimizes the load imbalance level but also utilizes the energy in an efficient manner.
