An IPv6 Internet Accessing Architecture and Approach for Industrial Wireless Network

Min Wei, Cheng Li, Caiqin Li · 2020

Industrial wireless devices are expected to connect to the IP internet seamlessly. There are several industrial wireless technologies such as LoRa, NB-IoT, WIA-PA, WirelessHART and ISA100.11a. However, these technologies do not consider IP compliance as a must. It is a challenge to develop IPv6-based industrial internet of things for these wireless networks. In this paper, industrial wireless networks accessing IPv6 internet architecture is proposed. Under this architecture, two accessing methods in gateway for two scenarios are given based on whether the gateway provides the interface to support IPv6. Finally, the industrial wireless network accessing IPv6 internet test system is implemented and validated. A wireless remote monitoring platform for AGV is implemented. The test results show that the industrial wireless network access architecture can support IPv6. The proposed IPv6 accessing methods and packet transmission scheme are efficient.
