A Critical Survey on Communication Protocols in IoT Domain

IoT or Internet of Things is nothing but a mammoth system of associated gadgets which shares data about their utilization and its working condition. It has a far-reaching impact on our day to day life and it is mainly concerned with protecting the connected devices and networks. It will remodel and alter the way all businesses, governments, and consumers interact with the real world. IoT security has become the subject of audit in the wake of a large number of notorious circumstances where a compromised device was used to jeopardize the security and attack the larger network. Implementing proper security measures has become so important to ensure the safety of networks. There are plenty of works about how to implement security in IoT systems. This paper presents a comprehensive survey of current IoT technologies, the need for security in an IoT environment and the different mechanisms available for providing security to the components and the data involved along with their pros and cons.
