IEEE 802.15 is a set of standard which caters to PAN network in a wireless mode. PAN stands for personal area network and caters for short range communication from 1 m to 100m. IEEE 802.15 is an IEEE which specifies WPAN a wireless personal area network standard. WPAN engulfs seven important task. These tasks include Media Access Control (MAC) and physical layer (PHY) specification for Bluetooth technology [1] [26] [27]. This also includes wireless connectivity with stationery, mobile devices and portable devices within or entering personal operating space. Wireless personal area networks or WPAN (as it is popularly known as) can exist with other devices operating in frequency bands (unlicensed) such as WLAN. There is a provision for high speed WPAN [26] [27]in the form of Ultra Wide Band. 802.15.1 which is a short-range RF standard operates at 2.4 GHz. 802.15.1 is capable of transmitting data and voice. It can act as a cable replacement technology. This is so because it uses wireless synchronization and transfers data among devices. This technology can be exploited wisely to develop products to communicate without cables. 802.15.1 can also be made to connect to a network or even the World Wide Web. Devices that communicate with each other, using 802.15.1, do so only when they are in a proper range. The devices need not have to be in line of sight of each other as RF is being used. This makes sure that the communication will happen, as long as the received transmission is quite powerful enough and the devices need not be in same rooms. Variety of applications can be built based on these protocols as they will result in a spontaneous and ad-hoc network. Security is an important criterion as the communication between two devices have to be secure and should yield a garbled result if the communication is sniffed. Here we propose a solution which implements security at lower layer of 802.15.1 stack and can be implemented in any of 802.15.1 enabled devices
