An Efficient Approach to Implement Multiplier using Vedic Maths Squaring Technique

Ashi Gupta, Pritish Kumawat, Gunjeet Kaur · International Conference on Computing for Sustainable Global Development · 2019

In this paper, the authors have implemented a new approach to the squaring technique proposed by Vedic mathematics to make basic calculations easier and the circuits more efficient. Vedic mathematics contain many sutras, sub sutras and their corollaries in which the selected one is Dwandwa yoga. The technique is used to perform the squaring of a two digits number. Xilinx Integrated Synthesis Environment design suite (14.7) was used to design the schematic and the results were compared with the conventional multiplier, through waveforms and simulation data. The time taken for squaring operation was reduced by employing the Vedic algorithms. The proposed Vedic multiplier architecture exhibited lesser component requirements and speed improvements.
