Importance of using Wimax in Tourism Industry: A Review

Tourist industry, especially in under-developed countries are facing significant connectivity problems as they do not have the budget for WIFI to cover large tourist destinations such as wildlife national parks or up in the mountains. This is where the Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave (WiMAX) can play a significant role as it costs a lot cheaper than WIFI and cover a much larger distance. The primary purpose of this paper is to review the use of WiMAX system in travel industry and discusses its pros and cons. It describes the wireless broadband technologies to improve tourism and to help tourist guides and tourists to organize their trip effectively. This paper mainly focuses on how and why WIMAX should be used for the tourism industry.
