HTTP streaming has become a practical technique to distribute multimedia content. This work proposes an adaptation method that improves the user's quality of experience when they consume video streaming over HTTP, compared to other methods considered state of the art. Based on the study of existing adaptation methods, we propose a new approach called Relative Smoothed Throughput (RST) method. Experiments with varying bandwidth conditions and multiple flows show that RST is able to outperform state of the art methods in efficiency.
