Possible Ways of Detecting Higgs Particles.

T. Sterling · Deep Blue (University of Michigan) · 1981

The Higgs particle predicted by the st and ard model of weak interactions will be very difficult to observe. The st and ard model augmented by an extra Higgs doublet is discussed in this thesis. There are fundamental scalars in this theory which could be easier to detect than the st and ard Higgs. The limits on couplings of Higgs to other particles is computed from g-2 for leptons, decays of various mesons, effects in e('+)e('-) scattering, muon decay and the K(,L-)K(,S) mass difference. The effective Higgs doublets that would be observed if the correct theory was a dynamically broken theory are derived.
