Upgradeable Power Net and Its Energy Management Structure

Julian Taube, Laurenz Tippe, Joachim Fröschl, Hans–Georg Herzog · 2019

The complexity of vehicular power nets increased steadily in the last decades with more and more components added to the vehicles. To effectively provide the necessary electric power to these components, future power nets will contain multiple parallel voltage levels. Autonomous driving requires a highly reliable power supply of the saftey critical components. Furthermore the desire for hardware upgrade ability challenges the conventional power net beyond its limits. This paper therefore describes a modular power net topology based on a back plane combining energy and data transfer, so components and sub harnesses can be directly integrated into it. In order to manage the energy flow in this back plane, an adaption of the energy management structure based on the viable system model is proposed.
