The key feature of Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET) is its dynamic topology. So, routing protocols designed for MANETs should not only accommodate this feature but also should add some security features in order to avoid multiple attacks. Grey hole, worm hole and black hole are some of the most popular attacks on MANETs. In this paper, the detection mechanisms available for these three types of attacks are discussed and analyzed. A detailed comparison is also done to find out the strength and weaknesses of these techniques.
