Network Architecture as a Thinging Machine

This paper has utilized a new conceptual model in creating a description of network architecture based on the notion of a thinging (abstract) machine (TM). Current network graphs are fragmental and, most of the time, result in uniformed notation (e.g., photographs, technical manual pictures, network towers) or holistic conceptualization in the sense of applying to parts and the whole of a system. TM is used in depicting a grand conceptual (application-independent) machine of the network's architecture. Additionally, the proposed model includes network processes as in devices that execute programs to handle packets. We have demonstrated the viability of TM through an actual case study that presents a descriptive methodology that contrasted with some current network diagrams.
