Design and Implementation of an Unfolded Sheet Metal Part Identification System

Sheet metal part numbers are used to retrieve recipes of a working stage, and greatly help the scheduling performance between working stages. This study proposed to integrate Hu moment and CNN algorithm to match CAD models and real sheet metal images. The experiment shows that the top-5 accuracy of predictions reaches 90% for 28K CAD models and 98% for 4K CAD model database for each.
