In this paper, a multi-L-shape array division based two-dimensional (2-D) incoherent distribution (ID) sources localization scheme is proposed for airborne massive multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) systems with uniform rectangular arrays (URAs). By dividing the entire uniform rectangular array (URA) into multi-L-shape arrays, the 2-D ID sources direction of arrival DOA estimation problem is transformed into a joint estimation problem with multiple L-shape arrays. A parameter matching algorithm for ID sources is proposed to remove the outliers due to angular spread and additive noise. Complexity analysis and simulation results shown that the proposed multi L-shape array division based 2-D localization scheme obtains lower computational complexity and higher estimation accuracy than the traditional estimation of signal parameters via rotational invariance technique (ESPRIT) algorithm.
