Distributed Horizontal Collaboration Caching in Edge Computing

Chuanming Yi, Haengrae Cho · 2018

With the increase in Internet users and the explosive growth of data traffic in the network, huge network load has become the biggest challenge for network operators. Unloading the calculations to the edge, as well as the distributed collaborative caching of content, will effectively solve this problem. The collaboration of most existing paper studies is vertical, that is, cooperation from the edge server to the source server. This paper envisages building horizontal cooperation and connecting each edge server through a direct link to enhance cooperation between edge servers, improve response speed, and reduce latency. In particular, when the edge servers are connected to form a loop, the problem of mobility when the user requests the content within the loop range can be effectively solved.
