Mobile ad hoc networks (MANETs), are cost driven infrastructure solution to build an urban Internet of Things (IoT) communication platforms with a high potential for a wide range of applications in different domains. By exploiting the huge number of communication nodes, Smart cites will take off the difficulties of enabling sustainable application. In this context, information security is an important and sensitive issue since any threat may cause a serious impact on the provided service. In this paper, we present a synthetic study on security vulnerability for wireless network layer and their countermeasures, since reliable communication infrastructure is a potential pioneer of Smart Cities concept. Then we will introduce a proactive routing protocol study based on multi-path diversification considering as use case, the Optimized Link State Routing protocol, in order to enhance the service/network availability.
