Representations of the Strong-Coupling Group of Pseudoscalar-Meson Theory and the Procedure of Contraction

A physically interesting isobar series for the group of the strong-coupling theory $[SU(2)\ensuremath{\bigotimes}\mathrm{SU}(3)]\ifmmode\times\else\texttimes\fi{}{T}_{24}$ was obtained by Goebel and others by using the method of the induced representation. It is shown that the procedure of contraction on $\mathrm{SU}(9)$ leads in a very simple way to the same isobar series.
