An Indoor Environmental Visualization System (IEVS)
F. John Dian · 2019
As environmental control systems become more prevalent in new housing developments, there is a demand for smart and cost effective data acquisition solutions to measure the environmental data for the purpose of smart decision making and to improve indoor comfort and energy efficiency. For this purpose, it is also important to present the collected data using an efficient visualization technique. In order to exploit this opportunity, this paper presents the design considerations for a low-cost, environmental data acquisition, processing and visualization system which is based on Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and can be deployed and scaled in residential and industrial settings. We propose and develop a low power wireless sensor network, which is capable of working with relatively distant sensors. This network introduces adaptive sampling of the connected sensors in order to achieve higher degree of accuracy in its data measurements. The results of our experiments on the proposed network shows the efficiency of the proposed system as an indoor environmental visualization system.
