The “hometown” syndrome: will the first system you learn always be your favorite?

The study was conducted in a library school, in the graduate courses electonic access to information. In this course students learn to search two competing commercial online search systems, DIALOG and WILSONLINE. An experiment is designed to test : which system is preferred for what purposes; whether the order of teaching or acquiring expertise in searching a system affects such perceptions.
