GUIbuilder: GUI program development in MATLAB

GUIbuilder, a new graphical user interface (GUI) design and development tool, is presented as a replacement for MATLAB's GUIDE tool. GUIbuilder facilitates the visual development of GUI programs but hides nothing from the developer. The code generated by GUIbuilder is cleaner, simpler, and easier to manipulate. This paper describes the design principles that guided and motivated the development of GUIbuilder.
