The recent trend of Internet of Things (IoT) is taking the world by surprise with its high demand in resources and diverse applications. By integrating and connecting sensors, IoT makes it possible to link “anything” “anywhere” with the aide of specialized protocols. Nevertheless, the security in such a highly saturated network system is a call for concern. This paper illustrates an approach of tackling security on IoT networks by making use of a hybrid security strategy. This strategy defined a security policy against an IoT DDoS attacks by making use of a grammar base filtering technique for a deep packet inspection (DPI) and a clustering algorithm for an unsupervised detection of the attack. For the purpose of practical evaluation of this security technique, an emulation was carried out and the results were presented.
