Computer Science Education Week workshops for secondary students

Matthew F. Tennyson, Sarah G. Fields, Yun Hu Wang · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2012

This paper describes the contents of four computer science workshops targeted for secondary students. The workshops were held in conjunction with Computer Science Education Week with the main goal of sparking in the participants an interest in computer science, perhaps motivating them to pursue an education and a career in the field. The topics covered included programming, robotics, mobile computing, and math. The topics were chosen and the workshops were designed to be engaging while providing an appropriate depth and breadth of computer science topics. An overview of the workshop activities is presented, accompanied by a more detailed discussion of the contents of each workshop.
