In the navigation field, ships are loaded with a large amount of cargoes. Especially on some bulk carriers, goods are directly exposed to uncovered. How to monitor the goods in the transportation process in real time and effectively ensure the safety of them has become an urgent problem to be solved in the navigation field. The real-time monitoring system has the characteristics of unsupervised, real-time video and image transmission, it is also an important support in the shipping system. This paper first analyzes the requirements of real-time monitoring equipment in the shipping system and determines the overall structure of it. On this basis, the Raspberry Pi is selected as the intelligent hardware board, and the client module, transmission control module and server module are designed on it. The collaborative environment with both software and hardware consisting of Raspberry Pi, on-board software and server jointly establish an overall ship shipping real-time monitoring system. The system is carried out by the monitoring terminal located on the ship for data collection, basic video and image processing based on OpenCV library, then forwarding to the transmission control module, and finally to the TCP/IP protocol receiving, converting, displaying, and storing operations on the server side. Finally, real-time video surveillance function design is realized.
