A Complex Wavelet Transform Approach for 1 Dimensional Signal

Mukund Gokhale, Daljeet Kaur Khanduja · Journal of Communication and Computer · 2010

The paper discusses the application of complex discrete wavelet transform (CDWT) which has significant advantages over real wavelet transform for I dimensional signal. CDWT is a form of discrete wavelet transform, which generates complex coefficients by using a dual tree of wavelet filters to obtain their real and imaginary parts. In this paper we implement Selesnick's idea of dual tree complex wavelet transform where it can be formulated for standard wavelet filters without special filter design. We examine the behavior of I dimensional signal and implement the method for the analysis and synthesis of time domain signals. Analysis and synthesis of the time signal is performed for 10 samples to verify the CDWT application on ID signal. We have calculated the SNR for 10 ID input signals which is around 23 dB-41 dB by considering the real and imaginary part. We also verified the shift invariance property by overlapping the samples up to a certain extent and observe that significant results are obtained.
