Enhancing computing curricula through a robotics-based approach: poster session
Weidong Liao, Reza Mirdamadi · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2017
The current computing curricula for the first two years is mostly comprised of foundation courses in mathematics and introductory computing courses that lack of the characteristics of real world applications, hands-on projects and teamwork. While a solid foundation in mathematics and computing concepts is critical for studying advanced computing courses, it makes computing majors less appealing and is one of the major obstacles in retaining and recruiting students in computing majors. In this poster, we present our robotics-based solution that incorporates tangible projects and team learning in computing curricula to promote recruitment and retention.
