Computer science unplugged: tutorial presentation

Peter B. Henderson, Lynn Lambert · Journal of computing sciences in colleges · 2009

This tutorial focuses on enrichment and extension material for anyone interested in exploring Computer Science in a fun way, without using computers! It includes hands on activities from the Computer Science Unplugged project which engage participants in learning fundamental computing concepts such as binary numbers, parity, sorting, graph modeling and encryption. These fun activities have been used world wide for all ages, especially young children, but have also been effective at the college level and for laypeople interested in computing. The tutorial will introduce the unplugged project and related kinesthetic material through hands on activities for the participants. Copies of sample activities, the unplugged book and videos will be made available.
