Low-Power and Lossy Networks are typically composed of many embedded devices such as sensors and actuators with limited resources interconnected by a diversity of links. Wireless Sensor Networks, as a major component in Low power and Lossy Networks, with several tiny devices collecting data from the physical environment and sending them to the sink node via routing protocols. In fact, routing data in wireless sensor networks is an imperative task that needs to be handled carefully. For this and for that, in this work, we intend to announce a new version of the Dynamic Source Routing protocol based on a cross-layer interaction between the network layer and the physical layer. This new version adopts routes which have a minimum bit error rate to improve the quality of communication in terms of signal-to-noise ratio and to minimize the data loss rate. Experimental results show that our cross-layer optimization leads to a significant gain in packet delivery ratio and guarantee good communication quality in a wireless sensor network.
