Design of System on Chip (SoC) applications on reconfigurable devices requires power, area and timing optimization techniques. There is a necessity to obtain the optimal use of reconfigurable logic and fixed logic. A careful decision during design process enables to obtain the trade-off between system performance and resource utilization. The Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) fabric along with a processor allows implementation of a System on chip applications on it. Modulators are the necessary blocks used in communication systems which are used to modulate source data such that long distance communication is possible. The Proposed design aims at achieving run-time reconfiguration of modulation techniques and also optimizing the power and area requirements. Through this paper an attempt is made to explain partial reconfiguration design methodology which helps in optimizing resource utilization. Partial reconfiguration allows the designer to modify the originally implemented design during run-time. Pre-generated partial bit streams can be loaded on the reconfigurable device. Proposed design is realized using XILINX Vivado 2017.4.
