Fall Protection System

Ron C. McKinnon · 2019

For a number of years, fall protection has been rated as one of the most citable of the Occupational Safety and Health Administration regulations, and in many instances, it has been cited more than any other safety regulation. Fall protection is a vital component of any health and safety management system as the potential for falls is high, as is the consequence of a fall from height. Managers, supervisors, and contractors are responsible for the identification of areas, jobs, or tasks which require the use of personal fall arrest systems, and are accountable for ensuring that conformity is maintained regarding the fall protection standard. Responsible persons are responsible for ensuring that employees use personal fall arrest systems when required, and each employee will be accountable for the wearing of fall protection in required areas and during specified tasks. The organization should have conducted a fall risk assessment to determine what fall protection measures are required.
