We have been developing Meiji university microprocessor (MPU) architecture tools, or MEIMAT. In designing MPU, it is necessary to implement each instruction of the MPU by appropriately connecting hardware modules of the MPU. We have early developed an instruction diagram tool which can visualize the relationship between a meaning of the instruction and a connection of hardware modules, for an educational MPU (COMET) as one tool of the MEIMAT. Our instruction diagram tool enables the tool user to easily implement the instruction by showing a circuit block diagram of the instruction identified by its semantic expression or functional expression. The instruction diagram tool also has a function to evaluate a process stage order of the instruction execution by changing the process stage order of the MPU.
