Energy constraint is a prominent feature for real time monitoring Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs). Indeed, communication and data transmission present an increasing demand for power consumption. Different clustering routing protocols are introduced to reduce the energy consumption while enhancing the network lifetime. In this paper, a real implementation of an unequal clustering based fuzzy logic algorithm is carried out using the PanStamp NRG 2.0 sensor node to analyze the actual performance of the network. The energy consumption of the nodes, their lifetime and the packets transmitted are evaluated. A comparison between the simulation and experimental results is conducted to highlight the importance of the testbed implementation.
