Discussions on Capturing a Watermarked Image on an LCD Monitor

Digital image watermarking technology has been developed for years as a tool of digital protection. Depending on the application field, a watermarking method faces specific kinds of challenges. It may be robust, fragile, reversible, etc. In this paper, the issues of capturing a watermarked image on an LCD monitor were discussed. It is similar to the print-and-scan watermarking in some sense. However, it suffers from a few additional problems. A few experiments were conducted to illustrate the severity of the issues. An additional source of distortion was also identified during the experiments. The results showed the challenges of this type of applications.
