Construction site monitoring based on laser scanning data

Erecting structures has always been challenging in physical, financial and organisational terms. While the building sector is one of the least developed ones in terms of digitization, it can benefit from current developments in 3D data acquisition by means of laser scanning and spatio-temporal data analysis in order to improve its level of productivity. At first, this chapter has a look at various aspects of construction sites in general, followed by considerations of data acquisition and processing. The third section finally discusses several strategies for construction site monitoring.
