BER Analysis of Smart Antennas Compared with BPSK

The smart antenna that consists of numerous array antenna elements increases its gain in the direction of interest and decreases it in the direction of interferences. While the bit error rate (BER) with respect to the incidence angle is calculated in this paper, the method of the minimum variance considering the link budget is used when the weights of the smart antenna elements are calculated. The quantitative BER analysis demonstrates comparing with that of BPSK that the BER improves with smaller an incidence angle of the direction of interest, with smaller numbers of interferences, or with larger numbers of array antenna elements.
