The transmission of data over the internet is very risky, it can be intercepted by unauthorized entities. Accordingly, several cryptosystems have been designed to provide data confidentiality. In this paper, we describe a new hybrid SPN-Feistel cellular automata based block cipher, called SPF-CA, using key-dependent S-boxes. The used S-boxes are dynamic and depend on input messages which ensure good diffusion and confusion. The security analysis and experimental results have been carried out to show SPF-CA block cipher efficiency. Moreover, a parametric study of rounds’ number is performed. The obtained results prove that our proposed SPF-CA block cipher resists against several existing attacks and it attained good confusion and diffusion, with a minimum number of rounds, comparing to well-known block ciphers.
