Data De-Duplication Using Smart-Cuckoo

Deduplication is one of space saving techniques used in backup storage systems. However the challenges posed by hash based deduplication systems such as metadata management still remains open. This paper proposes a solution to reduce the fingerprint insertion and lookup operations involved in metadata management. An effective hashing technique namely Smart cuckoo is incorporated into the proposed deduplication. Experiments performed using the proposed technique shows considerable improvements in factors such as backup speed and overall time taken for deduplication.
