DDoS attacks have caused major problems in modern Internet from the past few decades. With the development of emerging technologies, attackers can launch numerous DDoS attacks with a lower cost. Thus it is much harder to detect and prevent DDoS attacks. To defend against these attacks, one critical issue is to effectively isolate the attack traffic from the legitimate traffic. A novel DDoS detection mechanism based on trust score calculation is proposed in this paper. The trustiness on the node is taken as the base reference to distinguish the attack prone traffic from absolutely normal ones. Then we further segregate the malicious traffic to the finer level by considering various network parameters and methods.
