Digital signaling processing with FPGAs

This project serves as an extension of my Design Clinic group project, which was to design an FPGA-based image processing system. Instead of focusing on specific processing algorithms, in this project, I explored multiple digital signal processing techniques, which are the foundation of many image/audio processing algorithms. This project explored the FPGA implementations of digital signal processing techniques. I implemented two digital signal processing techniques in Verilog: the Fast Fourier Transform (FFT) and a lowpass FIR filter. The FFT design and the FIR filter design were developed in Quartus and implemented in both ModelSim, a simulation tool for FPGAs, and Matlab. 1D time signals, which, in real life, could be audio signals, were tested on the designs. The Matlab and ModelSim implementations for both designs yielded expected results.
