Fingerprinting Mobile Applications with Deep Learning

The main goal of this thesis is to develop a deep Neural Network to identify whether an app is installed or not in a mobile device by only looking at the (encrypted) network traffic the device generates. We will provide the student with a dataset of network traffic collected from a set of apps. If the student makes quick progress, they may extend the Neural Network to also identify speci c actions on the apps. In that case, we will provide the student with the tools to collect new data (i.e., a laptop and a smartphone).
