A multi-dimension grid and a negative grid

P. C. Sandler · 2019

The Euclidean representational system still furnishes a helping hand towards its realisation, through polyhedral construction. Again, the human sensuous apparatus can cope with representations of polyhedra with six, eight, ten, twelve and even twenty faces. Psychoanalysis, with its recommendation of discipline of desire and pleasure, was already hinted by Sigmund Freud’s advice on the need for abstinence, which tries to help humankind to find alternatives and ways under the aegis of the principle of reality, both within and outside the session. The psychotic creation of pseudo-pain is akin to sadistic relationships; together with incapacity to suffer pain it runs parallel to, and disguises, the capacity to feel pain. This is highlighted in Wilfred Ruprecht Bion’s work in many ways. The description of few features towards a multi-dimensional Grid hints at future amendments from other researchers of psychoanalysis.
