Redundant Multipath-TCP Scheduling with Desired Packet Latency

Several network transport protocols have been developed to provide reliable connection-oriented multipath concurrent data transmission. One of their advantages is reducing end-to-end latency by redundantly transmitting data through multiple network paths. In this paper, we address the problem of redundant packet scheduling in MPTCP over networks with asymmetric heterogeneous paths. We propose two schedulers, SlothTail and ReMDeLa (Redundant MPTCP Scheduling With Desired Packet Latency), which aim to maximize the quantile of one-way segment latencies satisfying a target latency threshold. Our experimental results show that ReMDeLa satisfies an application's desired latency better than existing redundant schedulers.
