A comparison of Palantype and Stenograph keyboards in high-speed speech output systems.

J.L. Arnott · Discovery Research Portal (University of Dundee) · 1987

Palantype and Stenograph are shorthand stenotype keyboards upon which words can be typed, in coded phonetic form, at natural speech rates. They can be used as control interfaces for phonetic speech synthesisers, realising systems which have potential applications as communication and rehabilitation systems for the sight impaired, speech impaired and hearing impaired. The Palantype and Stenograph keyboards are compared, in theory and in practice, as control devices for stenotype-to-speech systems.
