In this article, a comparison between remainder code in Manhattan metrics and BCH code in Hamming metrics is performed. A code in Manhattan metrics has greater rate compared to a similar code in Hamming metrics for large power of input alphabet. Switching to remainder code decreases decoding error rate compared to BCH code with the same codebook power. The use of erasure zone for remainder code allows to decrease decoding error rate. A way to choose an optimal erasure zone for minimizing decoding error probability is proposed.
