Functions of Bounded Variation and Caccioppoli Sets

In this chapter we introduce the notions of functions of bounded variation and Caccioppoli sets. We derive some important properties which will be of use in later chapters and towards the end of this chapter we obtain an existence theorem for minimal sets.
