A brief review of Bayesian belief network

Bayesian belief network (BBN) is a very potential graphical network based on probabilistic reasoning. This paper briefly introduces the development history of BBN and its successful applications in engineering including fault diagnosis and reliability analysis. The basic principles of the Bayesian belief network and the method of establishing a Bayesian belief network from practical engineering problems are described too. Finally, some current challenges and future development directions of BBN applications are summarized.
