High breast density is one of the factors associated with higher breast cancer risk. Moreover, according to previous reports, high breast density reduces the sensitivity of mammography since the epithelial tissue and tumors are easily confused because both have the appearance of white and dense areas. Thus, there is a necessity to provide other representation that allows knowing how the density is distributed in the breast to help differentiate between tissues. In this work, it is proposed to generate a density map and to characterize the breast density distribution through a homogeneity representation. Obtained results provide more detailed information on how the distribution of the different densities within the breast is. Moreover, this information could help the specialist to keep track of the change that occurs in the breast density.
