As the most active exploration technology developed by electromagnetic method in recent years, transient electromagnetic sounding (tem) has been widely used in oil and gas exploration, mineral survey, water exploration, geothermal exploration and engineering geology, and achieved good geological results. The surface structure survey of loess tableland in Ordos basin is an important content of seismic exploration. In loess tableland, gullies are developed and it is difficult to arrange by small refraction method. The low velocity reduction layer is deep and the cost of micro logging method is high. We adopted transient electromagnetic method to carry out 15 km workloads by the low velocity layer in Ordos basin thick loess tableland area, achieved good effect, the play of the loess in the test area has apparent resistivity layers, geological interpretation section with micro logging results are basically identical also, the results can be used to guide the excitation and surface correction work.
