Improving Energy Efficiencies in WDN with EPANET Based Tools

In our understanding, initiatives to improve and update EPANET should address serious energy issues. The first action should be to correct the errors that can occur under certain circumstances. The second action, linked to energy issues, should be to increase the capabilities of EPANET in this aspect. In particular, in the last years we have developed some energy tools with a common item, the EPANET input data file of the network to be analyzed. In this paper, we will describe these tools in some detail. However, in order to show the role of the different tools in the process, we will provide a brief description of the protocol to improve the energy efficiency of a WDN.
