People's dependency on IoT is increasing day by day and single user needs to access or maintain numerous IoT devices. Most of the IoT manufacturers provide features to connect and control IoT from mobile apps or cloud infrastructure. To provide users multiple application authentication using single credential OpenID authentication protocol is in picture nowadays, which is distributed, open source, user-centric. OpenID provides Single Sign-on (SSO) solution received a large popularity for its flexibility and ease of use. In the IoT context, implementing OpenID is a bit challenging due to many technological barriers. Keeping in mind those challenges in this paper, we propose an authentication model based on OpenID for IoT manufacturer platform which will enable users to maintain IoT devices using single web identity. The experimental test for evaluating performance of IoT has shown viable result in consideration with user authentication and access control is managed by the manufacturer's application which reliefs resource constraint device from additional overhead.
