Paradigms shifts form centralized to distributed systems are impacting Enterprise Systems Architectures. The most relevant paradigms are "Internet of Things" and Cyber-Physical Systems". State of the art Enterprise Systems are designed to seamlessly integrate specific components, technologies, sensors and actuators, locally or geographically dispersed. Systems Modelling approaches are facilitating the development of such systems. The focus of this paper define and design a redundant network, seen as a complex network in the context of Cyber-Physical Systems. Such nodes allow for the redundant connection of heterogenous distributed devices. Complex networks can be integrated within different enterprise systems or they can be connected to other complex networks such as Internet of Things based networks. A case study, detailing the preliminary design of a communication device is presented.
