Flying Bird Detection under Shaking Background

Yu-Kumg Chen, Yuhan Chen · 2018

Flying bird detection is very important issue for the safety of takeoff and landing of the aircraft. In order to make up for the shortcomings of the human eye surveillance, image detection of birds has become an increasingly important issue in digital image processing. According to the experimental observations, it was found that the flying speed of the birds is usually very fast and the range of the flight is usually very wide while the background image of the shaking movement is usually slow and will move within a small range. Based on this principle, a motion detection algorithm of flying birds is proposed in this paper. It can detect flying birds in a shaking background scene environment. Through the experiments of some sample videos, it is verified the feasibility of the proposed algorithm. And a clean binary video of flying bird also can be derived in the propose method.
